The Bunker - Nintendo Switch
Its hard to pop the bunker into any particular genre of game, if you can even really class it as a game. But don't take that as a negative. It's actually brilliant!
Its a kind of interactive horror movie along the same lines as a Choose-Your-Own-Adventure book, where at certain points you will need to carefully choose your actions as they will alter the course of the rest of the story.
I thought it was fantastic, the story was mysterious and really helped build upon the already creepy and unsettling atmosphere. The sound and voice acting is incredibly well done, audio logs of distressed survivors sounded genuinely convincing and when paired with the dark and gloomy environments, it really helped set the tone.
The main character is portrayed by Adam Brown whos a brilliant british actor that stared in the Hobbit movies. His skills really shine through in his performance in this one.
My only real issues with the game are the controls, when playing with a controller its so difficult to get the cursor where you need it to be, especially in the sections that act like quick time events. It's easy to end up missing your action and then have to replay the last 5 minutes just to try again.
It's very short at just under 2 hours in length and while there are multiple endings, it's not really worth playing through the entire game again to see.
Still the story was fantastic and really caught me off guard when I thought I'd sussed it all out. If you like indie horror films or interactive fiction, give this a go, it's simply brilliant.
Like I mentioned before, it's not exactly a game and I know it wont be for everyone but it does make for a fantastic piece of interactive horror fiction. It's a shame theres not a whole lot of replay value but just like a film, you can always watch it again in a year or two.
